OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
for both ECM-98T and ECM-9800
Changing to/from DAILY - SUNDAY - SPECIAL 3rd Vend Price
- To set coin mechanism on the Daily vend price, Insert Service Token ONLY and push coin return button ALL THE WAY IN so that service token is returned via coin return cup. Wait for indicator light to BLINK ONCE, then open door.
- To change to the Sunday vend price, Insert SERVICE TOKEN followed
by a NICKEL, then push coin return button ALL THE WAY IN so that both service token and nickel are returned via coin return cup. Wait for indicator light to BLINK TWICE, then open door.
- To change to the Special third vend price, Insert SERVICE TOKEN followed by a DIME, then push coin return button ALL THE WAY IN so that both the service token and dime are returned via coin return cup. Wait for indicator light to BLINK THREE TIMES, then open door.
CAUTION: To make sure that the Service Token does NOT END UP IN COIN COLLECTION BOX:
- PRESS COIN RETURN BUTTON ALL THE WAY IN, and
- MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SERVICE TOKEN IN HAND BEFORE
PULLING ON DOOR.
RECALIBRATING, DAILY, SUNDAY, THIRD PRICE, SERVICE TOKEN AND PROMOTIONAL TOKEN
NOTE: TO RECALIBRATE, the rack head must be opened up before the following steps can be performed. This is to assure that only authorized personnel can perform any of the recalibrating procedures.
The RECALIBRATION PROCEDURE can occur only when a special RECALIBRATION Switch is Closed. This switch is hermetically sealed so as to never be affected by weather conditions and is closed by placing a Magnet in close proximity to said switch. The Photos below show where the magnet should be placed for both the ECM-98T and ECM-9800 Coin Mechanisms:

To INCREASE/DECREASE DAILY VEND PRICE:
- Place large magnet as indicated on either ECM-98T or ECM-9800
- Insert one NICKEL into coin mechanism, watch for indicator Light to BLINK ONCE. (This tells you that the magnet has closed the switch and that you are going to be setting a new DAILY price.)(If no blink, move magnet until light blinks.)
- Insert actual coins TOTALING the VALUE of new price. (i.e. 2 quarters for a new 50 cent vend price.) Any combination of valid coins such as Nickel, Dime, Quarter or Dollar may be used. The Light will blink ONCE for each coin inserted. Insert each following coin ONLY after you have seen the Light Blink.
- After having inserted the correct combination of coins, remove magnet and press Coin Return Button so that all moneys are returned via coin return cup.
- Test that price is properly set by inserting the correct coin value and pull on door. Door will open if price has been correctly set.
To INCREASE/DECREASE SUNDAY VEND PRICE:
- Place large magnet as indicated on either ECM-98T or ECM-9800
- Insert one DIME into coin mechanism, watch for indicator Light to BLINK TWICE. (This tells you that the magnet has closed the switch and that you are going to be setting a new SUNDAY price.)
- Insert actual coins TOTALING the VALUE of new price. (i.e. 4 quarters for a new $1.00 vend price.) Any combination of valid coins such as Nickel, Dime, Quarter or Dollar may be used. The Light will blink TWICE for each coin inserted. Insert each following coin ONLY after you have seen the Light Blink.
- Upon inserting the correct combination of coins, remove magnet and press Coin Return Button so that all moneys are returned via coin return cup.
- Test that price is properly set by inserting the correct coin value and pull on door. Door will open if price has been correctly set.
To INCREASE/DECREASE SPECIAL VEND PRICE:
- Place large magnet as indicated on either ECM-98T or ECM-9800
- Insert one QUARTER into coin mechanism, watch for indicator Light to BLINK THREE TIMES. (This tells you that the magnet has closed the switch and that you are going to be setting a new SPECIAL price.)
- Insert actual coins TOTALING the VALUE of new price. (i.e. 4 quarters for a new $1.00 vend price.) Any combination of valid coins such as Nickel, Dime, Quarter or Dollar may be used. The Light will blink THREE TIMES for each coin inserted. Insert each following coin ONLY after you have seen the Light Blink Three times.
- Upon inserting the correct combination of coins, remove magnet and press Coin Return Button so that all moneys are returned via coin return cup.
- Test that price is properly set by inserting the correct coin value and pull on door. Door will open if price has been correctly set.
NOTE: If you do not get the correct number of blinks after every coin inserted, REMOVE MAGNET, PRESS COIN RETURN BUTTON TWO TIMES then repeat above procedures again. A failure to get any blink, regardless of how you place the magnet, indicates a defective switch and you must contact factory for further instructions.
TO RE-CALIBRATE NEW SERVICE TOKEN
- Place large magnet as indicated on either ECM-98T or ECM-9800.
- Insert one SUSAN B. ANTHONY DOLLAR or GOLDEN DOLLAR into coin mechanism, watch for indicator Light to BLINK FOUR TIMES. (This tells you that the magnet has closed the switch and that you are going to be calibrating a new SERVICE TOKEN) (If no blink, move magnet around until light blinks when Dollar is inserted)
- Insert one new SERVICE TOKEN. The Light will blink FOUR TIMES then the SOLENOID WILL FIRE so that door can be opened. Insert each following Service Token ONLY after you have seen the Light Blink and solenoid has fired.
- Repeat C. above an additional FOUR TIMES.
- REMOVE MAGNET and push COIN RETURN to exit the calibration program.
- Test new service token several times to make sure calibration process worked.
- If new service token does not work consistently, repeat above process.
RE-CALIBRATING DAILY PROMOTIONAL TOKEN
- Place large magnet as indicated on either ECM-98T or ECM-9800.
- Insert one SERVICE TOKEN into coin mechanism, watch for indicator Light to BLINK FIVE TIMES. (This tells you that the magnet has closed the switch and that you are going to be calibrating a new DAILY PROMOTIONAL TOKEN) (If no blink, move magnet around until light blinks when Service Token is inserted)
- Insert one new PROMOTIONAL TOKEN. The Light will blink FIVE TIMES and then the SOLENOID WILL FIRE so that door can be opened. Insert each following Promotional Token ONLY after you have seen the Light Blink and solenoid has fired.
- Repeat C. above an additional FOUR TIMES.
- REMOVE MAGNET and push COIN RETURN to exit the calibration program.
- Test new Daily Promotional Token several time to make sure calibration process worked. It will only open rack when vend price is set in DAILY.
- If new service token does not work consistently, repeat above process.
(NOTE) To disable a Daily Promotional Token, Just perform steps A, B & E. Skip the other steps.
